This is an edited extract from the book, “The Genius of the Poor,” which recounts the author’s 2013 journey visiting GK communities nationwide. Last year, the venue for my Christmas celebration was a glitzy night club in Metro Manila. This year it was GK (Gawad Kalinga)Tugas Village in Bantayan (Nothern Cebu), and the “discotheque” is a small, wooden gazebo.
